Woolacombe Beach
Woolacombe Beach North Devon voted number one in the top 25 beach category 2016
Woolacombe Beach and many more beaches within a few miles. It is hard to choose which one to visit. Turn left at Cook Island and drive along past the turn to Lee Bay and the Golf Driving Range with a recently opened sports hall for those wet days. Lee Bay is also worth a visit. Designated an area of outstanding natural beauty and a sheltered Bay to enjoy a tranquil day by the sea. Once reaching the drive down to Woolacombe is where you can see and feel this stunning place from the top looking across the countryside to the left and the long line of waves rolling over in front of you with Lundy Island in the distance.
Would recommend a longer stay to experience the amazing coastline of North Devon. Here at Holmsleigh we have the perfect accommodation for couples with our deluxe doubles, or a separate entrance leads to a family unit sleeping 8. Come and stay in tranquil comfort whilst exploring the beauty of North Devon. Woolacombe Beach is a vast stretch of golden sands renowned for it’s cleanliness and facilities awarded a blue flag it is ideal for families and surfers alike. Lifeguards in attendance.
At the end of the long flank of sand at Woolacombe is Putsborough Sands offering a quiet corner with good surf and a beach shop and cafe. Barricane Beach is just half a mile in the opposite direction and has a feel of some cove in Greece amongst the rocks down a steep path. Great place to swim when the tide is in and when out exotic sea shells transported by the Gulf Stream can be found. The Barricane Beach Cafe serves fresh sandwiches and refreshments for lunch and in the evening you will not find a more romantic place to eat serving Sri Lankan curry with rice and poppadoms, bring your own wine and watch the sunset. Note there are no toilets on this beach but only a few steps away there are public toilets in the car park at the top of Woolacombe Beach.
