Saunton Sands beach is only three miles from Braunton, an epic 3.5 miles long of gold sand. A renowned surfing beach for long boards and beginners. The family friendly beach also has beach hut and deckchair hire, a cafe and beach shop.
Braunton Burrows is the back drop for this stunning location. A two mile drive from Braunton along the coast road is a photographers dream. Rugged green hills roll down to the red cliff drop and down onto the great expanse of beach dotted with kite surfers and holiday makers. Further around the coast only by a mile the Bay of Croyde curves round another corner.
Parking prices have recently changed and it is now possible to pay by the hour at Saunton Sands. So good if visiting more than one beach in a day.
Saunton Sands Beach is a great place for a family fun day on the beach, to relax and build sandcastles and play hide and seek in the dunes. Collect shells and do a bit of rock pooling next to the rugged cliffs. Lifeguards in season
It is famous for it’s mellow waves and consistent swells for surfers and competitions held here for long boarders. A wide expanse of over 3 miles golden sands also attract kite surfers and joggers and many more water activities like kayaks and body boards.
Walking is a very scenic and invigorating experience here from of the dunes you will see the magnificent world class Saunton Golf Club cleverly sculptured amongst the dunes.and walking to the end to see the sights at Crow Point, like the well painted White House where along the banks you will spot kingfisher
Or sit back in your deckchair and enjoy the vista. Across the estuary where the Atlantic meets the sandbanks you will see Westward Ho! and the pretty fishing village of Appledore.
