The no 21 bus service is perfect to do a day touring. A day hopper ticket is just £3.60 and takes you from Ilfracombe to Barnstaple and then Bideford with many stops along the way.
But I would like to mention the great community of small business supporting local farmers and offering fresh produce and local artists and crafts who offer beautiful inspired handmade gifts to enhance your holiday experience. Numerous surf shops selling surf boards and hire, and clothes, cycle hire and gift shops selling local art , The frame shop , Kittiwakes, and Sunflower gift shop all are in walking distance.
Cawthornes is a family run food market selling local produce that you will not find in any supermarket like a massive range of spices , pickles and jams, and speciality pastas, flours and sauces and it is a perfect place to buy items to put a picnic together, stocking local made scotch eggs and single slices of cakes and scones. bread from a bakery in Bideford is delicious. Cawthornes is on Caen Street near the Riverside restaurant.
John Patts fruit and veg shop is on Exeter Road and also support local farmers, and you will find fresh seasonal items grown local, like the sweetcorn to put on that beach B B Q.
Stoned is our very own wood fired pizza place, eat in or takeaway. This is located next to Co Op on Exeter Road. As well as all the fantastic restaurants, here in Braunton, we have many takaways and snack options. For Chinese we have Hong Kong Chef and Good Fortune. For Indian , we have the Royal Bengal Restaurant or takeaway, For kebabs we have the Surf and Turf takeaway who deliver locally. As well as this there is a sandwich bar on Caen Street and a Warrens Bakery selling pasties all within walking distance.

Calaca – Loca have won the North Devon Street Food Awards and lucky for us they come to Wrafton Road, Braunton every Friday between 5 and 8.30 pm. Please feel free to bring your meal back and enjoy slow cooked shredded beef chilli nachos, chicken tinga tostados, spinach and goats cheese emparandas or red snapper.
Braunton is set in a basin below sea level and is surrounded by beautiful rolling hills. A very pretty and large village with lots of recreational space, parks and the River Caen and Tarka Trail running straight through the centre . Lots of great space and benches to sit and relax.
